Turkey issued a decree yesterday requiring companies to obtain state permission if they want to export medical ventilators and other equipment relating to the emergency needs.

The purpose of this measure is to meet the demand in the domestic market, while the number of coronavirus infections in Turkey is increasing.

At least 59 people have been killed by the coronavirus in the last two weeks and 2,433 got infected.

The decree states that companies will need special permits to export medical ventilators and other medical equipment.

Ankara has earlier announced that it will ban the export of protective masks.

Turkey has taken a number of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including partial curfew for senior citizens, closure of schools, restaurants and bars, as it has banned mass prayers and sports matches.
