200 Bulgarian nurses sent to Austria after Vienna's request

Austria transported over 200 nurses from Bulgaria and Romania on charter flights, according to Radio Bulgaria.

The Austrian health system depends heavily on the Eastern European personnel. Most of them arrive, stay for a few weeks and return.

Bulgarians and Romanians will spend a 14-day quarantine at the hotel. It is expected that after that they will have to work longer in Austria, not just one month. It is not clear if there will still be such shares. The province of Lower Austria needs 70 medical workers, but more have been designated as "security measures". The European Commission has sent recommendations to member states to ensure that staff in key areas may cross the border for the purpose if work, despite restrictions due to coronavirus.
