"I confirm that there is no new coronavirus hearth," said the head of the Department of Civil Protection and Coronavirus Emergency Commissioner Angelo Borrelli at a news conference today.

"We have 229 cases of infection, six of which have died and one has left the hospital," Borrelli continued.

He also announced that the seventh victim this afternoon was a 75-year-old man suffering from previous illnesses, as has been the case for all previous victims.

Italy, where schools and universities are closed in most northern regions, has become one of the main fronts in the fight against coronavirus outside Asia.
