 The publisher of the owner of the European University of Tirana (EUT) Henri Çili has been arrested by police in the early hours of this morning, along with 12 other people including the businessman Sait Fishta and EUT Legal Director Ilir Korbi.

Sources suggest that Çili had influenced a judge to release from prison the Lazarat gang members. Çili is rumored to have been in communication with the father of Alban and Arbjon Aliko arrested for the murder of the Police Officer Ibrahim Basha. The father of Aliko promised to Çili a piece of ​​land in Lazarat in exchange for the release or lowering the sentence of his two boys.

Investigations have shown that Çili's name also appears in contracts for the donation of properties in the city of Gjirokastra, but also in bank transactions.

The arrest warrants for their detention were issued by the Përmet Prosecutor's Office following a months-long investigation. Çili has been escorted at 9 pm with the local time yesterday while the arrest warrant was issued in the early hours of this morning. He faces aggravated charges of corruption, unlawful influence, falsification of documents and abuse of office.

During the operation, police also arrested Amarildo Aliko, a relative of former Lazarati DP chief Dasho Aliko in whose apartment was found and seized weapons and ammunition. The detainees have been taken to Tirana Police, where further action is expected.

The operation, which was finalized in the early hours of the morning, and more than 40 other people were being detained. Controls were carried out in some apartments in the city of Gjirokastra as well as in the EUT premises.
