About 16,000 Kosovars got work visas for Germany within two years, study suggests
 
 GAP Institute has published a report on the migration of Kosovo's workforce to Germany.

Official data show that Kosovo citizens lead by the number of applications and work visas in Germany, compared to other countries in the region.

According to the GAP Institute report, during 2016-2018, out of the six Western Balkan countries (Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina), a total of 204,638 employment contracts were reviewed for approval, of which about 80% are approved.

But only to 40% of them have been granted work visas. Of these, 24% or 15,824 were for Kosovars.

The report also provides data on the sectors and occupations in which Kosovo citizens have been able to obtain work visas, mainly in the fields of: construction, hotel and care services. The least successful professions are the finance, insurance and education sectors.
