Nezir Mehmetaj from the village of Rudica in Klina has been detained by Serbian police at the Merdare border crossing point on Friday.

The case has been reported by his family.

Neziri lives in Switzerland for 25 years and had been on vacation in Kosovo, but because his mother went ill, he went to Belgrade to do some health care analysis.

As he was returning to Kosovo, he was stopped at the border by Serbian customs officers, saying he was on a 'Stop List'.

His mother and his cousin who were in the car with him were both released.

Neziri told to his family in a message that they were sending him to Belgrade, but they did not know anything else.

The family of Nezir Mehmetaj has appealed to the country's institutions to take measures to understand the reason behind Nezir's detention.
