7 years in prison for father who sold his daughter for 6,000 euros in North Macedonia

The case took place in 2013 when the citizen T.D. has forcibly married his 17-year-old daughter in exchange for 6,000 euros to a family in Slovenia.

The harmed 17-year-old minor was treated by her family as a property for sale, for which a court in Maribor, in December 2015, sentenced her husband and parents and sentenced them to effective prison.

The Slovenian Prosecution has notified the Basic Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption of the case. The competent prosecutor has launched an investigation into the case against the victim's father, where evidence has been provided and information has been exchanged.

During the investigation, it was established that the girl's parents had agreed to the marriage and the minor's father had agreed to give her daughter in exchange of money to a man he first saw, and when the minor objected, the accused has physically assaulted her by forcibly married her.
