Rudi Vata's son in the Irish national team; he may never play for Albania if...

One of the Albanian football legends, Rudi Vata has stirred much controversy in recent hours over his son's involvement with the Irish national team.

Rocco Vata - the son of Rudi Vata - is expected to make his debut with the kids of the Irland, as the former Shkodra defender has reportedly never received any interest from the leaders of the Albanian Football Federation.

"I know it is also monitored by Scotland but the Irish Federation was the first interested in him. No one contacted me about Rocco. I think now the boy's grandmother is the happiest Irishman. People in Albania know it's included on the Irish list, and many are scolding me. But if there were enough professionals in Albania and they would do the job, they would have contacted us,” says Rudi Vata, a former Albania footballer.

Rudi Vata has been involved in 59 games with the shirt of the Albanian national team, but although his desire remains to see his boy with the same shirt, this will not affect his son's decision.

“They showed no respect and professionalism in Albania and if they continue, I think the boy will never play. I can't dictate the boy's decisions but I know he has the potential to be a special player,” Vata said.

Rocco Vata is included in Ireland's U-15 list, but despite his activation, he can still choose Albania in the future.
