Haradinaj: It would be wrong to abolish the tax on Serbia without recognizing Kosovo
Ramush Haradinaj
The Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj still-in-office stated that it would be a big mistake to remove the tax on Serbia without the latter recognizing the independence of Kosovo. Haradinaj assessed that the tax levied a year ago on Serbian and Bosnian goods has been beneficial to Kosovo's economy and state consolidation.

"I like the idea of reciprocity, but there should be no tax implication, let alone the tax because this is a penalty with Serbia. Must be established the reciprocity for other aspects, because there are other aspects as well. However, I do not understand why taxes should be removed. So, I am surprised at the attitude of anyone who returns Serbian goods or occupies Kosovo economically from Serbia without gaining recognition. It is a political capital mistake and whoever goes down that path will make a big mistake of the country and the processes,” Haradinaj said.

The Haradinaj government in November last year imposed a 100 per cent measure on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, saying the tax would only be lifted once Kosovo is recognized by Serbia.
