France Court doesn't allow Muslim family to name the baby 'Jihad'

A court in France did not allow a Muslim family to name the newborn baby "Jihad". According to news published in French media, the Dijon Court, on the grounds that it could "harm the child" did not allow the family to name the child "Jihad".

The court changed the child's name to "Jahid".

The French Civil Code stipulates that children should not be given names that could harm them.

Although the children have been named "Jihad" before, due to the rise of Islamophobia with terrorist activities, the foreign terrorist fighters are described as "jihadists".

The word "jihad", which in Arabic means "war" and "struggle", is perceived in France and other European countries as "holy war" and "radicalism".

In France, the use of children's names like the brand of chocolate "Nutella" or "Strawberries" has also been prevented.
