It is worth to be mentioned that in these much contested local elections of June 30, two former presidents have voted - Aleksandër Moisiu and Bamir Topi.

Thus the former president of the Republic of Albania, Alfred Moisiu, has voted in these mayoral elections in Tirana.

Moisiu called on political parties to reflect, while has considered a wrong action the opposition's decision to burn the mandates and boycott the elections.

Moisiu indirectly cited the successive decrees of Meta, also bringing to attention the 2007 precedent when he was president, saying he postponed the election date only after getting the green light by the  Electoral Code.

"The elections have a defect for non-participation of the traditional opposition because the other opposition participates in the elections in the Assembly. For me, this is a disaster. It should not have happened, nor was it necessary to burn the mandates or boycott the elections. Every two years we have elections. I agreed on June 30 because the failure to implement this date would create a precedent. I wish this situation have a solution as soon as possible. Already, the political parties have a great deal of responsibility. I am convinced that at last, the Albanian politicians must move forward. In 2007 I did not have had the right to evaluate the previous decree without the Electoral Code giving me this right. Only after this right was granted to me, I issued the other decree," Moisiu said.

On the other way has also voted the former President of the Republic, Bamir Topi.

During his speech outside the polling station, Topi said he chose to vote following the persuasion against the boycott.

He said that this is a day when every politician should reflect and orient themselves as those whom we call strategic partners.

"I voted today following my convictions of anti-boycott behavior, as my party, which participates in the elections, has also expressed. I came today to do my civic, but also political duty. I've been in all polls since 1991," Topi said.
