Rama responds to the Albanian President: We will have Elections on June 30
 Ilir Meta and Edi Rama
 The President Ilir Meta has abolished the decree on June 30th local elections. According to the head of state, this move was carried out "with full awareness that the current conditions do not allow the development of real, democratic, representative and inclusive elections".

We remind that the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, is the husband of the leader of one of the Opposition party - SMI - Monika Kryemadhi.

The full Declaration of the President of the Republic

1. With deep concern about the critical situation created in the country as a result of non-reflection of either party;

2. Bearing in mind the urgent need to put an end to the situation and the risk of unpredictable escalation of the conflict in the country;

3. Taking high constitutional and institutional responsibility, and convinced that the protection of constitutional principles is more important than any legal term and as the Head of State and abiding by the oath to serve to the preservation of any condition of stability, peace social and national unity;

4. Fully aware that current conditions do not allow the development of real, democratic, representative and inclusive elections. Free and fair elections are the main criterion of Copenhagen and under the current conditions, for the lack of accountability of both sides, we are heading towards a party vote. In this way every possible opportunity for opening membership negotiations with the European Union is undermined, the image as a NATO member is undermined and the OSCE chairmanship for 2020 is violated;

5. Inviting all relevant local and international actors to unite the constructive contributions to the urgent resettlement of irreplaceable political dialogue and to find a quick solution that serves the European future of Albania;

I have decided to abolish the Decree No.10928, dated 05.11.2018, on the conduct of local elections on June 30, 2019.

In the first communication of Monday, June 10, morning, the Institution of the President of the Republic will publicly announce all the exhaustive constitutional, legal and logical arguments that led to this decision.

I appeal to opposition leaders that today's protest should be conducted in a completely peaceful way, away from any act of violence...

On the other hand, the Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded from Berat to the President of Republic Ilir Meta about the June 30 elections.

While introducing the candidate for the municipality of Berat he said that we will have elections on June 30.

"The protest is a desperate attempt by people who will lose. The elections of June 30 will take place and Meta made a mistake again. On June 30 there will be elections, they are neither to the opposition nor the President. They intend to destroy the elections," Rama said.

Speaking also about the file 339, Rama added: "File 339 is an indicator. The intercepts have not been done by Bild. Where did the Germans  took the tapping? We did not bargain with the national interest and they drove Albania to the abyss. They do not love justice equally for everyone. Socalist Party has faults but is on the right side of the history."

Rama considered the opposition leaders a desperate flock that wants for Albania to be as far away as possible from Europe.
