Rama: Positive news from Europe; Cakaj: Negotiations postponement is not encouraging news
Edi Rama And Gent Cakaj
The Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted after the statement by the Romanian EU Presidency and Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn on the negotiations.

We recall that a little earlier at a press conference Hahn suggested that more time was needed for the decision-making about the opening of the talks, citing October as a possible deadline.

Meanwhile, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says: Despite the no-limit war on the political front of evil, which is doing its utmost to cripple the country in the eyes of Europe, to block the talks with blasting, threatening, molotov and tapes of mud, Albania is resisting.

Prime Minister Rama on Twitter:

Very positive news from Europe on the road to opening the negotiations. Despite the unprecedented war of the political front of the evil, which is doing its best to cripple the country in the eyes of Europe, to block the talks with blasting, threatening, molotov and tapes of mud, Albania is resisting.
EU foreign ministers have adopted in Luxembourg, the transition to the heads of countries of recommendation for Albania and North Macedonia, with the aim of October. Let's resist to the offensive of the mud and stones against Albania till the end. All together on June 30th elections.

On the other hand, the Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj in a statement to the media has spoken of postponing the decision by the EC and the Romanian EU presidency to open negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.

He says it was the lack of time for decision-making and not the non-fulfillment of the criteria by Albania due to the postponement of the negotiation decision.

"Today, the Luxembourg General Affairs Council has decided to postpone the decision and open negotiations for another moment but no later than October. This delay is motivated only by the lack of sufficient time for their internal procedures," he said.

Cakaj said further that the postponment of decision is not an encouraging news for Albania, because he thinks the country had deserved the opening of negotiations last year.
