The video-scandal in Kosovo: detention for Hashimi and Rexhepi

 The Kosovo Prosecution has ordered the detention on remand for Rrahim Hashimi and Kadri Rexhepi after a video scandal, where they are seen to have received hundreds of thousands of euros from the businessman Faton Dalladaku, to mediate for him to the Speaker of the Parliament Kadri Veseli in order to make possible for him to build a private hospital in the courtyard of the Clinical Center University of Kosovo.

The Basic Court in Prishtina, General Department, Division for Criminal Matters has decided on the Basic Prosecution's request in Pristina to determine the detention measure against the defendants Rrahim Hashimi and Kadri Rexhepi for the criminal offense of "Fraud", provided by the Article 335 paragraph 5 in conjunction with paragraph 1 and Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Court has found that the criterion of Article 187 paragraph 1.1 and paragraph 1.2, point 1.2.1,1.2.2 and 1.2.2 of the CCRK is fulfilled because there is a risk of their escape, there are also circumstances that the defendants may have an influence on the witnesses. The Court has estimated that, given their personal characteristics and their previous conduct, there is a risk that they may commit the same or similar criminal offenses.

Against this decision the parties have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeals of Kosovo. Immediately after the release of videos.
