Albanian Police strikes a criminal group that committed trafficking in human beings, 5 arrested

 After a specially investigated investigation, the Internal Affairs and Appeals Service (IAAS) arrested 1 police officer and four other citizens who were allegedly aiding 19 foreign nationals crossing the border illegally.

The police finalized the strike at this group at the entrance to the city of Pogradec at around 23:50 on May 9, 2019. The services banned 19 foreign citizens, Kurdish citizens and Syrians, who were being transported to Tirana by the Albanian citizens: EA and T.H.

The foreign nationals entered the green border in the Devoll area and near the village of Trestenik were transported by cars from E.A. and T.H. and the Police Officer, J.Z. (service body at the Elbasan Commissariat) is suspected of having the role of the road controller. Citizens M.A. and K.M. were accompanying.

In this Police action, have been sequestred 4 vehicles, mobile devices and 120,000 Lek in the quality of material test. Charges of "Illegal border crossing assistance in co-operation" have been filed on the arrested citizens.

Also, the IAAS is continuing the criminal prosecution for the offense of "Abuse of Duty" for the Head of Police Station and 2 employees of the Green Border Control Patrol, for non-fulfillment of duty.
