Great Britain's friendly approach to Albanians, childrens learn Albanian language

 "Great Britain has a friendly approach to the Albanian community and we will increase the cooperation between the two countries, so that students can learn Albanian language," said State Department for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, who visited the supplementary Albanian school in Kilburn, London.

The Minister of State for Diaspora visited the school founded on the initiative of Albanian organizations operating there, which offers Albanian language courses on Saturdays.

Minister Majko was welcomed by students dressed in traditional costumes, while he conveyed his praise to the teachers and parents for their extraordinary work, and emphasized the importance of the Albanian speaking in the family.


In his speech, Majko said that the mother plays the key role in transmitting the language to her children and avoiding thus the assimilation of younger generations, and informed teachers, parents and representatives of the association "Future" on the joint action plan with the Kosovo government, regarding the Albanian education in Diaspora.

Agreements reached between the two governments, the Minister said, will help to enable to all Albanians abroad easier access to Albanian books and education.

Also, Majko spoke about the steps taken to realize the curricula and set up a working group to draft standardized language books, as well as appreciated the Britain's friendly approach to the Albanian community and expressed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with the diaspora there.

During the conversation, parents and teachers raised their concerns, hoping that the visit of Minister Majko would serve as a starting point for further cooperation with the Albanian authorities.

During his visit to the Albanian school, Majko was accompanied by Albania's Ambassador to London, Qiriako Qirko.
