Speed Boat filled up with 2.2 tons of marijuana caught in Puglia coming from Albania

Another huge amount of marijuana is caught at the Italian coast. Guardia di Finanza seized a speedboad on May 17th with 2.2-ton of marijuana coming from Albania, the value of which would be worth of EUR 22 million.

The seizure was carried out at the coast of Pulia, at Viko del Gargano beach. It is still unknown why the boat was abandoned a few meters from the shore by the traffickers, who may have detected a police patrol. Italian authorities have identified the speedboad  furnished with plastic bags and abandoned among the rocks, about 15 meters away from the shore.

The harsh terrain forced the Guardia di Finanza agents to swim get to the boad and to pull it off to the shore.

On the 8 meters long speedboad equipped with two powerful engines, Italian authorities have found 57 packets of marijuana, with a total weight of 2.2 tons.

Bari Aeronautics Department suspects that speedboad went to Italy from the coast of Durres and for that, in cooperation with the Albanian Police, have launched an investigation to identify the traffic perpetrators./Oculus News
