Majlinda Bregu elected the General Secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council

Bregu is the first Albanian to assume a senior executive position in the institution that has as its mission the empowerment and enhancement of cooperation in the countries of Southeast Europe.

She wrote on Facebook:

We won. I won the race, but the victory belongs to my country!

Thank you all who believed and voted for the position of the General Secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council.

Acknowledgments for all, member countries, Albanian institutions, the European Commission, EEAS (EU Foreign Service), European Parliament, my political family EPP, and all those who voted convincingly my candidacy.

They all tried with the clarity that my leadership of this institution would be the victory of Albania and the Albanians!

I am honored today that for the first time it is up to me to lead as the first Albanian in a senior executive position, the institution whose mission is to strengthen and enhance the cooperation in the countries of the Southeast Europe!

A friendly thanks to Ditmir. We share political ties, but the European approach and effort to work for Albania united us!

I know that it will be a tough challenge, but sometimes the difficult thing is the best.
