Greece does not allow the introduction of textbooks for children of Albanian immigrants

 Greek police has forbidden a contingent of Albanian language textbooks destined for the children of the emigrants to enter in this country. 

According to Greek sources two drivers of the Albanian Foreign Ministry were transporting books from Kakavija towards Athens were detained for several hours and the released. While unofficial sources say the texts were seized to view their content.

The Greek side has not given an official explanation for the incident. In Greece are operating for years classes for the purpose of learning the Albanian language by immigrant organizations in collaboration with some Greek municipalities. The books for the children are provided by parents with the help of the Albanian Embassy in Athens.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministries of the two countries two years ago have signed an agreement on the revision of textbooks. Education ministries from Albania and Greece have expressed through a bilateral commission to remove from textbooks views that bring tensions between the two countries.
