Jahnia, a very tasty dish

Jahnia is a dish which is prepared from onions and meat. Jahnia originates and is widely used particularly in Kosovo cuisine, but and in all Albanian regions.


Ingredients for 4 persons:
700 gr. beef
2 kg. onion
250 gr. butter
salt
Red pepper
Black pepper 

A full spoon of ketchup or 2 fresh tomatoes



Guideline:
We pour about 100 gr. of butter on the pan, meanwhile it melts, we mince the onions in very small pieces and fry on low fire for about 25 minutes, add the salt and let as such till they get a golden color.
Then we add fat (the rest of the butter), meat, red and black pepper, the ketchup and 1 tea-cup of water. We leave the mass to boil for 1 to 2 hours at a low fire, and time after time we add a little water in order to not get dry. Everything is ready.

Jahnia is served with puree, rice, chips, etc.
