7 Illegal Migrants Found in Car in Albania as 31-Year-Old Is Arrested

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Elbasan, Albania, after police accused him of transporting foreign nationals who had allegedly entered the country illegally.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the Section for the Investigation of Trafficking at the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, as part of an operation codenamed “Rrjeta 2.”

Police intervened on the Elbasan–Peqin road, where they reportedly stopped A. A., 31, while he was transporting seven foreign nationals from third countries in a vehicle.

According to Albanian police, the seven foreign nationals are suspected of having entered the territory of the Republic of Albania illegally.

Following the procedural actions, the 31-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto.

Police also identified a suspected accomplice, M. K., 25, who allegedly owned the vehicle used in the operation. He has been declared wanted by authorities.

The vehicle allegedly used to transport the foreign nationals was seized as material evidence.

Authorities said the investigation is continuing to fully document the suspected criminal activity, identify any other individuals who may have been involved and locate the 25-year-old man who remains wanted.

The case has been referred to the Prosecution Office for further action over the criminal offense of “Assistance in the illegal crossing of the border,” allegedly committed in cooperation.

As the investigation remains ongoing, the allegations reported by police have not yet been established by a final court decision.
