22-year-old midfielder Dion Kacuri has accepted a call-up from Kosovo head coach Franco Foda, officially switching his international allegiance from Switzerland.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who represented Switzerland at U18, U19, U20 and U21 level, has reportedly received the invitation two days ago and responded positively to Kosovo. He has made 18 appearances and scored three goals for Switzerland’s youth teams.

Kacuri currently plays for Austrian side Austria Lustenau on loan from Basel. He has made six appearances this season and scored one goal.

The midfielder mainly operates in central midfield but can also play as a No. 6 or No. 10. Foda reportedly watched him personally during Lustenau’s match against Sturm Graz.

Swiss media have previously described Kacuri as a player with the potential to eventually succeed Granit Xhaka in Switzerland’s midfield.

Kacuri also knows Kosovo international Leon Avdullahu, with whom he played at Basel in 2024.

Kosovo are preparing for four Nations League matches in 14 days, beginning against Ireland on September 24 at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium. They will then face Austria away on September 27, Israel in Hungary on October 1, and Austria again in Prishtina on October 4.
