Alket Rizai Still Wanted as Greek Police Investigate Possible Escape to Albania

 Alket Rizai remains wanted by Greek authorities, with the investigation now extending beyond Greece as police examine the possibility that he may have illegally crossed into Albania.

 Alket Rizai remains wanted by Greek authorities following a shooting incident in Anavyssos and his failure to return to Domokos Prison after prison leave.

The Albanian trail emerged after Rizai's last known trace was reportedly located in northern Greece. According to information received by Greek authorities, investigators suspect that he may have traveled from the region toward the border before potentially crossing illegally into Albanian territory.

Searches are continuing in Greece as authorities attempt to reconstruct Rizai's movements following the incident and determine the route he may have taken.

However, there is currently no official confirmation that Rizai has entered Albania or is hiding anywhere in Albanian territory. The possibility of a cross-border escape remains only one of the leads being investigated.

Rizai had been temporarily released from Domokos Prison on leave when he became involved in a shooting incident near a bar in Anavyssos, south of Athens, during the early hours of Sunday.

Greek police were alerted at around 5:15 a.m. after reports of gunfire. Two shell casings and traces of blood were reportedly found at the scene, while those involved had already left.

According to the reconstruction of the incident, Rizai was at the establishment with two other people. The confrontation allegedly began following an argument over loud music coming from a vehicle before escalating.

Reported footage from the scene appears to show Rizai pulling out a firearm and firing into the air. Two employees of the establishment were injured in the incident — a 20-year-old Greek national and a 41-year-old Pakistani national.

After the shooting, Rizai reportedly fled by car together with the two people accompanying him. An Afghan national is also wanted in connection with the incident and is suspected of having been involved in the confrontation.

The owner of the establishment was arrested on suspicion of making a false statement concerning the circumstances of the incident.

Rizai was due to return to Domokos Prison on Monday after his leave expired, but he failed to report back.

He has remained at large ever since.

Greek authorities are now pursuing multiple leads in an effort to locate him, including the possibility that he may have crossed the border into Albania. For now, however, investigators have not publicly confirmed that he has entered the country.
