Rama in Prison, Berisha in Prison": Day 65 Protest in Tirana as Demonstrators March to Albania's Prime Minister's Office

 TIRANA, Albania – Anti-government protesters returned to the streets of Albania's capital on Day 65 of the ongoing demonstrations, marching from Skanderbeg Square to the Prime Minister's Office while demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the departure of the country's entire political establishment.

 

Carrying Albanian national flags, banners and patriotic symbols, demonstrators gathered in central Tirana before marching toward the government headquarters, where they continued their protest with speeches and chants.

Among the slogans heard during the march were "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison," "Government of crime," and "Albania demands revolution," reflecting protesters' dissatisfaction with both the current government and the broader political class.

One of the featured speakers was Albanian actor Mehdi Malkaj, who sharply criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama, accusing him of "selling Albania piece by piece."

Addressing the crowd, Malkaj thanked protesters for their support and said the movement was made up of Albanians united by patriotism rather than political affiliation. He argued that the country could no longer afford inaction and insisted that Rama should leave office. During his speech, Malkaj also used symbolic imagery, suggesting the prime minister should be removed from power peacefully and publicly humiliated rather than through violence.

The protest concluded outside the Prime Minister's Office, with organizers reaffirming their demands for the government's resignation and pledging to continue the demonstrations in the coming days.
