Mandisa Çota, Albanian “Survivor Greece” Star, Opens Up About Racism and Discrimination in Greece

Mandisa Çota, the Albanian-born reality TV personality who gained attention through her appearance on “Survivor Greece,” has spoken publicly about the difficult experiences with racism and discrimination that she says she faced because of her Albanian background.

During a television appearance in Greece, Çota described experiences that she says began in childhood and continued through her education and working life.

Mandisa Çota: “I Experienced Difficult Things Because I’m Albanian”

Çota said that prejudice became part of her experience from an early age because of her origins.

“Ever since I was little, because I am of Albanian origin, I have experienced many difficult experiences,” she said.

According to Çota, there were occasions when she felt she was treated differently because of where her family came from.

She cited the workplace as one example, questioning why a person's nationality should have any influence on their salary.

“Why, because I am from Albania, should I be paid less?”

For Çota, such experiences became a source of motivation rather than a reason to give up.

She Says Discrimination Also Affected Her Education

The Albanian reality TV personality also recalled experiences from her school years.

Çota said there were moments when she believed she had performed better than other students but received a lower grade.

“Why, because I am from Albania, should I get a 7 or 8 while someone else gets a 9, even though I performed better?”

Her account highlights a broader issue experienced by some members of the Albanian community in Greece, particularly people who grew up navigating questions of identity and belonging.

“Nobody Should Be Ashamed of Who They Are”

Çota said that her perspective on discrimination has changed as she has grown older.

Rather than feeling ashamed of her Albanian roots, she said she has learned to embrace her background as an important part of her identity.

“Nobody should be ashamed of who they are.”

She emphasized that people do not choose the family into which they are born or the country where they are born, and argued that a person's origins should never determine their value.

“It doesn't matter where you were born, who you are or where you come from. What matters is who you are as a person in the end.”

From Albanian Roots to “Survivor Greece”

Mandisa Çota has also attracted attention in Greece through her participation in “Survivor Greece.” Her Instagram profile identifies her as part of the 2026 edition of the popular reality show.

 

Her public comments have added another dimension to her growing profile, bringing attention not only to her television career but also to her experience as a young woman of Albanian origin who grew up in Greece.

 

Her story reflects the experiences of some Albanians raised in Greece who have faced prejudice because of their background while building their lives and careers in the country.
