 DIJON, France – Former Albanian international footballer Olgerd Muka has been arrested in the French city of Dijon after authorities accused him of distributing and trafficking cocaine, in a case that has drawn significant attention in both France and Albania.

 Former Albanian international footballer Olgerd Muka was arrested in Dijon, France, following accusations of cocaine distribution and trafficking.

According to reports from French media, the 46-year-old former midfielder had been under police surveillance for more than ten days before investigators moved in. French authorities allegedly caught Muka together with another Albanian national while they were distributing small quantities of cocaine inside a public park in Dijon.

During his court hearing, Muka reportedly acknowledged the circumstances surrounding the case and explained the reasons that led him to become involved in the alleged criminal activity. According to local reports, he told judges that severe financial difficulties and unemployment had left him struggling to support his family, pushing him toward what he described as a desperate decision.

Muka enjoyed a lengthy football career in Albania's top division, representing several of the country's most historic clubs, including Partizani, Teuta, Dinamo, Besa, Flamurtari, Bylis, and Lushnja. He also earned appearances for the Albanian national team in friendly international matches.

After retiring from professional football, Muka pursued a coaching career. However, according to reports, financial instability made it difficult for him to establish a sustainable livelihood following his playing days.

The case has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many expressing shock that a former national team player could become involved in such serious allegations. French judicial proceedings are ongoing, and Muka remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
