TIRANA, Albania – Belgium is opening its embassy in Tirana, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic relations with Albania and signaling a stronger commitment to bilateral cooperation.
The decision will establish a permanent Belgian diplomatic presence in Albania and reflects both countries' intention to deepen their partnership across political, economic, and people-to-people ties.
The Embassy of Albania in the Kingdom of Belgium welcomed the move, describing it as a clear sign of the growing friendship between the two nations and Belgium's continued support for Albania's path toward European Union membership.
"A new embassy is not just a diplomatic representation. It creates new bridges between the institutions, economies, and citizens of both countries," the Albanian Embassy said.
Beyond diplomacy, relations between Albania and Belgium have expanded significantly in recent years through tourism, business, and cultural exchanges.
A key indicator of this growing connection is tourism. More than 110,000 Belgian visitors traveled to Albania in 2025, highlighting the country's increasing popularity as a destination for Belgian travelers.
The opening of the Belgian Embassy is expected to facilitate closer cooperation in trade, investment, education, and consular services, while reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
