Police in Durres have intensified inspections to monitor noise levels in the city's tourist areas, as part of broader measures aimed at ensuring public safety and improving the experience of residents and visitors during the busy summer season.

Authorities said awareness meetings were first held with business owners and administrators, particularly those operating venues where amplified music is played, to remind them of their legal obligations regarding environmental noise.
The inspections are being carried out under the summer security plan implemented by the Durres Police Station, with officers focusing on areas identified as having higher levels of acoustic pollution.
Using specialized sound-level meters, police tested noise emissions at several indoor and outdoor venues located in popular tourist zones. The inspections were conducted in accordance with Albanian Law No. 9774 of July 12, 2007, "On Environmental Noise Management," as amended.
According to the police, all measurements taken during the recent inspections were found to be within the legally permitted noise limits.
In addition to measuring sound levels, officers also verified that businesses were complying with the authorized hours for playing music in open-air venues located in residential areas. Under current regulations, music in such locations is permitted between 11:00 a.m. and midnight.
Police stated that the inspections will continue throughout the summer tourism season to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and maintain public order.
