A prostitution investigation that began with a request for assistance from the Brazilian Embassy in Tirana has led to criminal charges against an Albanian man and a Brazilian woman, after prosecutors uncovered what they describe as an organized prostitution scheme operating across several Albanian cities.

According to prosecutors, the Brazilian woman entered Albania in September 2025 with the intention of engaging in prostitution after establishing contacts through online platforms. Investigators say she initially operated in Tirana, later moved to Golem, and eventually relocated to Karbunarë, Lushnjë, where authorities ultimately located her.
The prosecution alleges that S.M. played a central role in organizing the activity. Rather than being merely an acquaintance, investigators claim he arranged clients, negotiated the prices for sexual services, coordinated meetings, and financially benefited from the operation. Electronic communications collected during the investigation allegedly show him offering paid sexual encounters with the Brazilian woman to various individuals.
The investigation was launched after the Brazilian Embassy in Tirana contacted Albanian authorities seeking assistance in locating the woman after her family reportedly lost contact with her for approximately one month.
Following investigative measures and the analysis of electronic communications, Judicial Police officers located the Brazilian citizen in a residence in Karbunarë, within the Municipality of Lushnjë. The discovery led investigators to reconstruct the alleged prostitution network and identify the roles of those involved.
The case has now been forwarded to the competent court, where the allegations against both defendants will be examined. Under Albanian law, all individuals charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
