VALLANDOVO, North Macedonia – Residents of Vallandovo have been advised not to use tap water for drinking after laboratory tests detected elevated levels of arsenic in the city's water supply, raising concerns over public health and water safety.
The warning was issued by the Public Enterprise “Komunal Servis” – Vallandovo, after analysis conducted by the Institute of Public Health in Skopje confirmed increased arsenic concentrations in drinking water from the municipal water system.
Authorities have instructed citizens to avoid consuming the water until additional tests provide confirmation that it meets safety standards. For the moment, the water may only be used for technical purposes, such as cleaning and other non-consumption activities.
Additional Testing Underway
According to the municipal water company, measures are being taken in cooperation with relevant institutions to identify the source of the contamination and determine the next steps.
Additional laboratory analyses are currently being carried out, while residents will be informed once new results become available and further recommendations are issued.
The authorities have not provided details on the exact level of arsenic detected or how long the contamination may have affected the water supply.
