22-year old Albanian Man Wanted by Spain for Attempted Murder Arrested in Shëngjin Ahead of Extradition

A 22-year-old Albanian citizen who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish authorities has been arrested in the coastal town of Shëngjin and is expected to be extradited to Spain to face criminal charges.

An arrest operation taking place outdoors next to a white law enforcement van. Three armed officers in black tactical gear and balaclavas are escorting a detained man away from a building. The man, whose face is pixelated for privacy, is wearing a white T-shirt and dark shorts, with his hands held behind his back by the officers.
Armed tactical officers escort the 22-year-old suspect following a successful joint intelligence operation between Albanian authorities and Spanish law enforcement.
According to Albania's State Police, the arrest was carried out on Wednesday as part of the operation codenamed “Fast,” led by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend individuals wanted internationally.

Police authorities had received intelligence indicating that a fugitive sought by Spanish law enforcement was hiding in the Lezhë region. Following a real-time exchange of information with Spanish partners through the ENFAST network, officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect in Shëngjin.

The arrested individual, identified by the initials O.P., is a 22-year-old born in Lezhë. Authorities stated that he had been declared internationally wanted by Interpol Madrid after a court in Ibiza issued an arrest warrant against him on May 18, 2026.

Spanish authorities are seeking O.P. on allegations of attempted murder. The warrant stems from an ongoing criminal case in Spain, where he is expected to face judicial proceedings once extradition procedures are completed.

Albanian police confirmed that legal procedures for his extradition to Spain are currently underway in cooperation with the relevant judicial and law enforcement institutions of both countries.

The operation highlights the continued cooperation between Albanian and European law enforcement agencies in tracking down internationally wanted suspects and enforcing cross-border arrest warrants.
