The discussion around possible foreign investment in Albania’s southern coastline, especially in Zvërnec and Sazan Island, has recently gained attention. One of the strongest voices in favor of such developments is Albanian businessman Harry Bedrakari, who sees these projects as a major opportunity for economic growth and international visibility.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner on Sazan Island has been described as one of the most significant possible developments in Albania’s coastal tourism sector.Bedrakari argues that Albanians should not oppose American investments in their territories. On the contrary, he believes the country should actively work to attract more U.S. capital not only in Albania, but also in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and the Preševo Valley. In his view, investments from the United States bring development, jobs, and long-term stability.
He says that a project of this scale in Sazan and the Zvërnec area would have a strong economic impact, especially for tourism. It would create new employment opportunities for young people, bring more international visitors, and encourage other investors to look at Albania as a serious destination for high-end tourism development. According to him, it would also help place Albania more strongly on the global tourism map.
At the same time, Bedrakari emphasizes that Zvërnec and Sazan are unique natural areas and that development should not be seen as something that automatically damages the environment. He insists that modern investment projects can and should go hand in hand with environmental protection if they are properly planned and managed.
He also underlines the importance of Albania’s relationship with the United States, describing it as the country’s most important strategic partnership. In his opinion, American investments are not only economic projects but also a sign of trust and friendship from a nation that has supported Albania through key moments of its modern history.
For Bedrakari, openness to such investments is also a rejection of isolation and stagnation from the past. He argues that Albania’s future depends on cooperation with the Western world and on bringing in serious international investors who can contribute to long-term development.
In this context, he sees the possible involvement of American investors in Sazan Island as a positive signal and hopes it could encourage more similar projects in the region.
