Switzerland Invests 1.8 Million Francs for Building Safety in Albania

The Swiss government has officially announced a new grant of 1.8 million Swiss Francs (CHF) to boost building safety and infrastructure resilience across Albania.
This funding aims to modernize the Albanian construction sector by implementing safer building standards and preparing institutions to better handle natural disasters, such as earthquakes.

Key Focus Areas of the Swiss Project
The investment will be used to support Albanian authorities in upgrading technical regulations and enforcing European building codes (Eurocodes). The main goals include:

Technical Audits: Assessing the safety of existing public buildings, including schools and hospitals.

Expert Training: Training local engineers and architects on modern, seismic-resistant construction methods.

Quality Control: Strengthening inspection laws for new residential and commercial construction projects.

A Long-Term Partnership

Switzerland remains one of Albania's top strategic partners. This 1.8 million CHF project is part of a broader Swiss cooperation program designed to protect human lives, secure public investments, and bring Albania’s construction standards closer to European Union levels.
