Kosovo Police Conduct School Weapons Checks After Student Found With Pistol and Ammunition

Kosovo Police have carried out inspections in several schools following security concerns, after a student was reportedly found carrying a firearm and ammunition during a recent operation in school facilities.
According to initial reports from local media in Kosovo, officers discovered that one student was in possession of a pistol and 19 bullets, while another student was allegedly found carrying a knife during separate school control.

The operations were part of broader preventive security measures aimed at ensuring safety in educational institutions.

The checks were conducted by the Kosovo Police as part of routine and targeted inspections in school environments, a practice that authorities say is intended to prevent the introduction of weapons and reduce potential risks of violence among minors. The incidents have raised renewed concerns about security in schools across the country and the presence of illegal weapons among young people.

Police officials confirmed that the students involved were taken into custody for further questioning, and investigations are ongoing to determine how the weapons were obtained and whether additional individuals may be involved.

Authorities in Kosovo have previously increased school monitoring measures in response to similar incidents, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen safety protocols and prevent violent incidents in educational settings.
