Albanian Students Announce Protest Supporting Skopje Law Exam Language Rights in Tirana

Albanian students have announced a protest in Tirana in support of Albanian students in Skopje who are demanding the right to take law examinations in the Albanian language.

According to the announcement, the demonstration will begin at Skanderbeg Square and participants will then march toward the Embassy of North Macedonia in Tirana. The protest is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at 5:00 PM.

The mobilization comes amid ongoing tensions over language rights in higher education institutions in North Macedonia, where Albanian-speaking students have raised concerns about equal access to academic processes in their mother tongue. Supporters of the protest argue that the issue reflects broader questions of minority rights and educational equality in the region.
Organizers say the demonstration aims to show solidarity with students in Skopje and to call for institutional responses that ensure the use of the Albanian language in legal education and examinations. Authorities in Tirana have not yet issued specific statements regarding the planned gathering.
The situation is expected to draw attention from civic groups and regional observers as discussions over language rights continue across the Western Balkans.
