Suspension of Police Officer Began in March 2026 Over Absence From Duty
Before his dismissal, Uljan Shpataraku had already been suspended from duty on March 4, 2026.

Authorities stated that the suspension was part of internal administrative procedures within the police institution.
Albanian Police Internal Discipline Measures Continue in 2026
The latest dismissal comes amid continued efforts by Albanian law enforcement authorities to strengthen internal discipline and accountability within the State Police.
In recent years, police leadership changes and internal investigations have led to several disciplinary actions involving officers in different departments.
The Department of Information Technology, where Shpataraku worked, plays a key operational role in managing police communication systems and digital infrastructure.
Links Between Former Police Leadership and Current Internal Investigations
Attention around the case has also focused on Shpataraku’s reported proximity to former police chief Ilir Proda.
Although no criminal accusations have been publicly announced against Shpataraku, his removal has generated discussion regarding ongoing restructuring and personnel changes inside Albania’s police institutions.
Observers note that leadership transitions within security institutions often bring administrative reviews and reevaluations of personnel assignments.
Official Response From Albanian State Police on Officer Dismissal
So far, Albanian State Police authorities have not released additional details beyond the disciplinary justification connected to attendance and duty obligations.
No public statement has been issued by Uljan Shpataraku regarding the dismissal decision.

Police Reform and Institutional Oversight Remain Key Issues in Albania
The dismissal highlights the continued focus on institutional oversight and operational discipline within Albania’s law enforcement system.
Security analysts say internal accountability remains a major issue for public institutions in Albania, particularly during periods of leadership transition and organizational reform.
Further developments may emerge if authorities provide additional clarification regarding the case or future disciplinary measures inside the State Police.
