The Albanian State Police have published footage showing the arrest of Ragip Gilaj, the suspect behind a deadly shooting in Shkodër that claimed two lives and left two others injured on Tuesday.
According to authorities, investigations and searches are ongoing to fully document the circumstances of the attack, which occurred in a bar in the “Qemal Stafa” neighborhood. Police reported that Gilaj opened fire with a firearm, killing two individuals and wounding two more.
In the course of the investigation, police identified and issued arrest warrants for two other individuals suspected of supplying weapons, vehicles, and other equipment used in the commission of serious crimes. A residence in the “Guerrile” neighborhood, allegedly used by the two wanted suspects as a base for criminal activities, was also uncovered. During the raid, officers seized seven firearms, 45 detonator caps, and military-grade ammunition.
The Special Crime Investigation Sector of the Shkodër Police Directorate, working in cooperation with the “Shqiponja” Special Force, General Patrol Units, and under the direction of the Shkodër Prosecutor’s Office, carried out the arrest operation.
Gilaj, 28, a resident of Shkodër, was arrested in flagrante delicto and now faces multiple criminal charges, including “Murder under qualifying circumstances,” “Armed robbery,” “Destruction of property,” “Illegal possession and production of firearms, explosives, and ammunition,” and “Theft.”
Police emphasized that operations will continue in order to bring all accomplices to justice and dismantle the criminal network connected to the attack.
