Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The National Police, through the INTERPOL Santo Domingo National Central Bureau (NCB), arrested an Albanian citizen wanted by judicial authorities in his home country under Red Notice A-11907/8-2025. The suspect is accused of involvement in large-scale international drug trafficking.
The detainee, identified as Soni Pepa, 40, is linked to a cocaine shipment of 11 tons, from which 600 kilograms were seized in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, between November 7 and 8, 2020. He is also accused of financing the purchase of an additional 10 kilograms of cocaine in the same city, local media reports.
The arrest took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 3, in the National District of Santo Domingo.
According to international reports, Pepa was part of a transnational criminal network operating across several European and South American countries, specialized in the trafficking of massive quantities of narcotics. The drug consignment in question was shipped from the port of Villetas, Paraguay, bound for the port of Antwerp, Belgium.
At the time of his arrest, authorities found in his possession an Albanian passport, several Italian documents, five encrypted mobile phones, and a sum of cash.
Following his detention, Pepa was transferred to the General Directorate of Migration for further deportation proceedings, in coordination with INTERPOL Santo Domingo.
