Involvement in Organized Crime and Drug Disputes

Renis Dobra, who had previously been convicted in Germany for drug trafficking, was reportedly involved in a structured criminal group. Investigations revealed that Dobra had ongoing conflicts over broken drug deals with four individuals, all suspected to be involved in the murder: Petrit Çakëri (alias P.H.), and three brothers: Fatjon, Kristi, and Aleksandër Bushgjokaj.

The motive behind the killing appears to be directly linked to disputes in the narcotics trade, as confirmed by Dibër Police Director during the press briefing.

Police Operation “Bashkëfajësia”

Following a coordinated investigation, which included the analysis of video surveillance and forensic evidence, police launched Operation “Bashkëfajësia” (Complicity). This operation led to the arrest of two suspects:

  • Petrit Çakëri, 55, arrested in Golaj, Kukës, charged with premeditated murder and kidnapping.

  • Fatjon Bushgjokaj, 34, arrested in the Astir area of Tirana, also charged with premeditated murder and kidnapping.

The remaining suspects, Kristi and Aleksandër Bushgjokaj, have been identified and declared wanted, and police operations are underway to locate and apprehend them.

How the Murder Unfolded

According to the investigation, on the night of July 8, Dobra was kidnapped in the village of Zenisht, near Burrel, and later killed by strangulation with a rope. After the murder, the perpetrators placed his body in his car and pushed the vehicle off a cliff, aiming to make it look like an accident. However, the plan failed: while the car plunged into Lake Ulza, Dobra’s body was ejected from the vehicle during the fall and remained on the terrain, making the staged accident immediately suspicious.

Authorities emphasized that the suspects wore no police uniforms and used no marked police vehicles, indicating a deliberately deceptive operation designed to mislead and cover up the crime.

Investigation Continues

The Special Investigative Group, under the guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office, continues to collect evidence and track down the remaining suspects. The brutal murder has shocked the local community and sparked fresh concerns about organized crime and drug-related violence among young Albanians involved in international narcotics networks.
