With 25 kg of Cocaine in Vehicle, Albanian Man Dies During Police Chase in Italy

A 38-year-old Albanian man lost his life when the car he was driving crashed into a telephone pole while attempting to flee from the police. The accident occurred around 8:30 PM, after two police patrols noticed two vehicles traveling at high speed.

The authorities initiated a pursuit and successfully stopped one of the vehicles, a Fiat 500, which was being driven by a 26-year-old Italian man. He was arrested at the scene.

The second vehicle, driven by an Albanian national, veered off onto a dirt road, raising a large cloud of dust that temporarily hindered the police's ability to follow. Minutes later, the car left the road and crashed violently into a telephone pole before overturning.

Emergency responders found the driver deceased at the scene. His body was transported to the morgue at Tor Vergata hospital in Rome.

Near the crashed vehicle, officers discovered a bag containing approximately 25 kilograms of cocaine, divided into 23 packages. Preliminary investigations suggest that both men were transporting narcotics at the time of the pursuit.

The 26-year-old Italian has been taken to Velletri prison and is facing charges of drug possession and trafficking in collaboration with others.

Italian authorities continue to investigate the incident in order to fully clarify the circumstances and determine all individuals responsible.
