A serious incident has occurred in the city of Durres. After 10 days of search, the police found the lifeless body of a 50-year-old man who had been reported missing by his family. After investigations, it was revealed that he was murdered by his daughter.

According to authorities, the young woman, Hygerta Meta, stated that the motive for the murder was the pressure from her father to get engaged against her will, as well as ongoing family conflicts. The police have arrested the 19-year-old, suspected of being the perpetrator of her father's murder, Pëllumb Meta.
"Thanks to swift and professional actions, the police have found the lifeless body of the 50-year-old, suspected to have been killed with a firearm and buried within the premises by his daughter. On February 13, 2024, around 22:30, citizen H.M., 25 years old, residing in the village of Shënavlash, Durres, reported to the Police that her father, citizen P.M., 50 years old, residing in Shënavlash, Durres, had left home, and they had lost contact with him. Following this report, the Police immediately initiated search efforts and on February 17, 2024, managed to find the vehicle of citizen P.M., parked on the Shënavlash-Sektor Rinia road axis.
The special investigative team established for this case, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continued investigations and searches as the 50-year-old was suspected to have disappeared. As a result of thorough investigations, it was possible to clarify the disappearance of citizen P.M. Evidence suggests that this citizen was not missing but was murdered in his home. Furthermore, investigations indicate that the perpetrator of the murder of the 50-year-old is his daughter, citizen H.M., 19 years old, who has been arrested for the criminal offense of 'Murder due to family relations.'
The special investigative team continues comprehensive investigations to identify and hold accountable other individuals implicated in this incident. The body of the 50-year-old has been exhumed and transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for further examination."
On the other hand, local media say she stated that ongoing disputes with her father led to the tragic event.
"I committed the act because my father insisted on arranging my marriage with someone I didn't approve of, a village boy who was an immigrant. I wanted to pursue my education," testified the 19-year-old to the investigative authorities.
The case is currently being investigated, and law enforcement is examining potential accomplices in the incident.
