A video of Greek academic, Helene Glykatzi-Ahrweiler, has gone viral on social networks. The video has been widely circulated due to Helene Glykatzi-Ahrweiler stating that in 1831, there were only 8,000 houses in Athens, most of which belonged to Albanians.

Her statement sparked numerous debates on social media, thus eliciting various reactions from Greek citizens on different internet platforms where this video has been published.

"Greece didn't exist, so what did they do to console themselves? Exactly! 8,000 houses in Athens in 1831, half of them without roofs. And most of them belonged to Albanians. The first Albanian-Greek dictionary was created by Botsaris (General and hero of the Greek War of Independence). Botsaris created the first Albanian-Greek dictionary because all his soldiers were Albanians," expressed the academic.

Helene Glykatzi-Ahrweiler is now 94 years old. The Greek academic who dedicated a part of her life to studying Byzantium was the first woman to lead the University of Sorbonne. Additionally, she has served as a director at the University of Europe and as the president of the Board at the European Cultural Center in Delphi.
