Over 1,700 hectares of flooded land in Albania, road blocked by avalanches

 In Albania, the number of flooded land surface has increased as a result of rain and bad weather. About 1,750 hectares of land are under water, of which 1,220 hectares are in the Shkodra district, while the rest in the Lezha district.

The National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies announced that as a result of the numerous flows, the controlled discharge continues in the Drin cascade at 300 cubic meters per second.

According to the authorities, the rivers are below the critical level and do not pose a risk of flooding in other areas, local media reports.

In the north of Albania, the snowfall has caused some problems. The Bogë-Theth road is blocked due to avalanches and intervention is impossible. While the Arbri Road - which connects Albania with North Macedonia - which was blocked yesterday due to snow, is passable today.

The Civil Emergencies announced that on Saturday, January 21, five cars with local tourists were blocked on Mount Tomorri (in the district of Berat), so this institution appealed to avoid destinations where there is snow and ice on the road.

Rains have damaged four bridges in Shkodër and Lezhë districts.

According to data from the Ministry of Defense of Albania, rain is expected today and tomorrow, which could worsen the situation.

In addition to Albania, flood damage has also been caused in several municipalities of Kosovo.
