Albanian language, among the three most spoken foreign languages in Switzerland

 The Federal Bureau of Statistics (known locally as BFS) has published the latest data on the state of languages in the state of Switzerland, specifically the spread of languages spoken in this country, from 2010 to 2020. From the relevant brochure published by the BFS, it has been established the percentage of speakers of foreign languages in Switzerland, which is in direct proportion to the growth or change of the foreign population in this country.

The most spoken non-national languages were the Balkan languages in 2000, such as: Serbian, Croatian and Albanian. However, in 2020 the English language was at the top (6.7%), alongside the Portuguese language which was (3.5%), the Albanian language (2.8%) and the Spanish language (2.4%), while the Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin languages made up the whole (2.4%). The English language, as usual, from the first decades until now, is constantly enjoying an increase in its speakers, where it goes (2.2%), as well as the Portuguese language with (0.5%).

In the German-speaking area, it is said that (6.5%) English is their main language from the age of 15 and above, then Albanian is the second language with (3.2%), as well as Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and Montenegrin together with (2.8 %). As for the Francophone area, the Albanian language occupies the fourth place with (2.2%), after English, Portuguese and Spanish. While in the Italian-speaking area, the Albanian language occupies the fifth place, after English, Portuguese, Spanish and Balkan languages.
