At a time when most try to leave Albania because of the reduced possibilities, Daniel Xhavara has returned from emigrating to Peshkpi in Vlora, where he started a very special business, the breeding, and raising of snails.

The long experience in emigrating from Europe to Canada and doing many types of work led Daniel to finally choose the business that he started to love and do with great desire and passion. He has dedicated about 1 hectare of land to snails, dividing them into maternity and growth areas.

"We have 16 boxes, they are almost organic. They have cabbage, chicory, and beetroot which are their basis for food, where they also get the taste", says Xhavara for A2 CNN.

The particular farmer also tells about the use of snails and the business he does with Italy, targeting other EU countries as well. "Italy is the most important. For eating and for creams and medicine against colds, arthritis, skin, another for acne on the face."

Like any business, the desire is to expand the activity, but it also requires the help of the state, as well as to show that in the villages of Vlora, not only hashish is planted. "I made all these expenses myself. Why not, let Vlora have something positive, to give these villages a positive spirit. It's not just cannabis here, there are a lot of other things.".
