Albania wins gold medal at the Mediterranean Games "ORAN 2022" in wrestling the Chechen Zelimkhan Abakarov

 Albania has won the first medal in the Mediterranean Games "Oran 2022" which are being held in Algeria. The wrestler Zelimkhan Abakarov has been declared the 65kg freestyle champion.

 

Abakarov made a fantastic match in the final, as he completely dominated the challenge against the Egyptian Yehia Hafez and triumphed with the result 11-0, winning thus the gold medal.

Thus the first red and black success in Oran holds the firm of the sport of wrestling. 

Zelimkhan Abakarov is known to be an athlete from Chechnya, approached by the Albanian Wrestling Federation and provided with an Albanian passport several months ago.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that another Albanian has managed to win a gold medal in this competition, it is about the Kosovar judoka, Distria Krasniqi, who has won the Gold Medal in judo.

In the grand final, Krasniqi defeated Croatian rival Ana Viktorija.

This is the first medal for Kosovo in these games of this edition, as well as for Albania.
