The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, and the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, on Wednesday, adopted a joint statement through which they support Ukraine in obtaining the status of candidate for EU membership.

"The statement says that politically sound decisions must be made at the next EU summit for all our countries on their European path, for the sake of peace, stability, and prosperity," Abazovic said in a Twitter post.

Prime Ministers Rama and Abazovi met on the afternoon of June 15 with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, was also involved in the video meeting.

They arrived in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on Wednesday morning.

Through a post on social media, Prime Ministers Dritan Abazovic and Edi Rama appear surrounded by numerous security forces as they visit the town of Borodianka near Kyiv.

"Immediately after our arrival, we visited the city of Borodianka, a city destroyed at the beginning of the occupation. We are witnessing the destruction caused by the war. "We pray for peace together with Prime Minister Edi Rama and stand by the citizens of Ukraine," Abazovic said on Twitter.

In another Twitter post, the prime ministers of the two Balkan countries are seen visiting the city of Irpin.

"We visited the town of Irpin, where 1,100 families were destroyed. Most citizens fled their homes, infrastructure collapsed… We sympathize with Ukraine, for the loss of many lives and suffering that has been going on for months. Peace is invaluable," Abazovic wrote.

Abazovic and Rama are the first leaders of the Western Balkan countries to officially visit Ukraine, which has been facing military aggression by the Russian Federation since February 24th.

During the day, they will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Montenegrin government announced on June 12th that its leader, Abazovic, had accepted Zelenski's invitation.

Ukraine has been under Russian aggression since February 24. Currently, fighting is concentrated in the eastern part of this country.

The West has strongly condemned the attack, punishing Russia with harsh economic and diplomatic sanctions.

The President of Ukraine, Zelensky, delivered a speech before the Albanian Parliament on May 3. Speaking via video link, he asked the country to close ports to Russian ships and restrict the arrival of Russian tourists.
