She Proposed the Shipwreck of Albanian Emigrants in 1997, Police seize millions of Euros and Ferraris from Irene Pivetti
Irene Pivetti, a picture of recent years
In 1997, Irene Pivetti, the former head of the Italian Parliament, scandalized public opinion with her statements on Albanian emigrants. "Albanian clandestine must be thrown again into the sea. And if they oppose to law enforcement, their ships have to be sink."

A sentence for which the former politician voted by the Lega Nord at the head of Parliament has stated that she regrets but this has followed her as a mark for her entire political history, practically closed in 2001, when she was not re-elected as an MP.

From that moment, her career has gone through various and unpredictable phases, from moderator on television to entrepreneurship, where among other things she was one of the first in Italy to import anti-covid masks from China, although with suspensions for various irregularities according to the customs authorities.

But today the agents of the Italian Guardia di Finanza appeared again in front of her, seizing her and her collaborator, former pilot Leonardo Isolani, seizing about 4 million euros and three luxury Ferraris.

According to authorities, the two persons had lied to the state by not paying taxes from the sale of some luxury vehicles in various countries, from Hong Kong to the UK, Poland, and Spain, which passed ownership thanks to some fictitious joint-stock companies, created by Pivetti.

Authorities charge Pivetti and her accomplices, 5 people are still wanted for money laundering and tax evasion.
