 Albanian-Italian Arjola Trimi was born on March 15, 1987 and is an Italian Paralympic swimmer competing in the S4 classification competitions. She made her major international debut at the IPC 2013 World Swimming Championships in Montreal, where she won four medals.

A year later she became European champion in her classification in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle events. In 2015, she won her first world gold by taking the 50m backstroke title at the World Games in Glasgow.

Trimin learned to swim as a child, but always saw swimming as a hobby that helped her relax. Although with physical disabilities Trimi over the years participated in several sports, such as wheelchair basketball and athletics, but only when her medical condition deteriorated did she return to professional swimming.

She started swimming as a professional in 2013 and was initially classified as an S5 athlete, but was reclassified immediately afterward as S4. That same year she was selected to represent Italy at the IPC 2013 World Swimming Championships in Montreal.


In 2014, she won her first international gold medals, becoming European champions in the 50, 100, and 200 meters freestyle at the 2014 IPC European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven. A year later she was back on the Italian team, this time at the World Cup in Glasgow.
