"I am Albanian and I feel one hundred percent Albanian; in Italy, I learned from the greatest masters, Zeffirelli, Martone, Gatti. My first Verdi Requiem was with Riccardo Muti in 2011 in Salzburg, his presence is strong, of course, I went prepared for rehearsals along with other singers, you can not get out of his frame, but he is very flexible. In short, to answer your question, I am an Albanian, direct, as my people are, but in art, I am completely Italian", declared Saimir Pirgu in an interview for Corriere Della Serra two months ago.
